Fencing the Ashram Compound
In order to build better Vastu plot for the Ashram at Yasodapura Eco Village we have started to build a bigger fence around that area, which is about one hectare. Inside we have hundred fruits trees and banana trees. There is also small forest, its surface we have been cleaning to make nice place for sitting in the shade.
Kishora Krishna Prabhu and Jagadish Ananda Prabhu began the work by measuring the area for fencing. After that for several days we cleaned the land all around. We have got 200 spools donated by some devotees from Indonesia. These spools we will put around, one spool for every two meter. Recently 6 villagers came voluntarily to help us for two days. They are families who have been connected with our project from a couple years, by the end of two days 150 spools were installed. There are 3 other people who will come to put the other pools. We hope that by the end of April we can finish this work.
New Growing Season is started
As the rainy season has already started after this Khmer New Year, with that even the growing season has also started. Village people have now become busy with their cultivation in the farm. Our devotees have also started to do planting, beginning right from our village base compound. Devotees cleaned the compound area and have begun to plant some banana trees. We took baby banana plants from the neighboring house. They let us to take it as much as we can because they have in excess.
At the main land, Yasodapura Eco Village, the local families started the cultivation, same as last year. We are connected with these families under the land used agreement, they use our land one hectare for each family and in return we get 15% of the produce. They are not allowed to use any kind of chemical fertilizers or pesticides in the farm. These families grow rice, cassava and corn.
Fruits Harvest
In this harvest we got lot mangoes and bananas. We made some dry banana chips, by slicing the bananas and drying them in the sun for about four days. These dry banana chips can stay for long time, for more than a month. While we brought mangoes to our city center for offering to Sri Sri Gaura-Nitay. We keep the mango seeds for making new nursery at the farm, in the hope that we grow more mangoes the next year.
Go Puja on Purnima day at our Village base
On purnima days we had Go Puja at the village base with some children and neighboring families. We did kirtan and arati for the cows, and everybody offered bananas to mother cows. Later on we sat for some more kirtan and talk on the importance of cows by Kisora Krishna prabhu. Thereafter, we served everybody sweet green bean prasadam. One guest from Canada had also come to visit us along with Kumudaksa prabhu and Bhakta Chitra. He liked the program. He expressed his liking to be with villagers and for the area which is very natural and has a lot of trees around.
