On the special day of Balaram Purnima, Thusrday 18th August 2016, we got chance to conduct Go Puja in Yasodapura Eco Village (YEV). Puja started at 1 pm and attended by about forty neighbors include children. This is the first time we invite them for go puja. In this way, they were anxious to follow till the end of the ceremony.
Most of them are farmers who are already very familiar with cows. They also have been familiar with our kirtan because we have invited them several times to our programs. Somehow by Lord Caitanya mercy whenever they meet the devotees they will say “Hare Krishna”.
The ceremony started by short Hare Krishna chanting followed by Surabhi Mantra : Om Sri Surabhyai Namah, and then continued to arati to the cow. After the arati with kirtan to cows done, and each of us(including guest() offered bananas to the cows. Guest seem so happy doing it, especially children.
At the last, we distribute prasadam to the guests. Devotees prepared rice, sabji, and other preparation from ashram. They enjoyed the prasadam. At the end we distribute cake as well. Normally children doesn’t take much but in that time they could have it more because it very delicious.
