We open a display of Om Sri Surabhi Campaign during the Ratha Yatra in Bangkok, on 26 June. HH Kavi Chandra Swami Maharaja came up to the display and HH told some various issues regarding bull protection about more than 30-40 minute. HH said we should also say about Bull Protection, not only Cow Protection. Because in some Goshala the bull are not properly being protected, they may look after them, feed them but the bull are not happy because they were not being engaged, especially to work in Krishna’s service. Maharaja said, we need a field to engage the bulls, we have to do something and work with the bull, Bull Protection, not only cow protection, because Prabhupada said Cow and Bull, like that Maharaja continued. Otherwise bull will never become happy. “Just like a man, he is happy when he gets some engagements, if he only being tied in the room, only eating and do nothing he will not happy” Maharaja said.
In some goshalas in order to maintain the bulls goshala have to sell more milk from the cows, so the Goshala can get more money to maintain the bulls, this system is not so sustainable, because increase the milk production mean have to increase the birth of the calve and at least half of the number of the calves will be bull. So this is going on, and goshala will need to collect more donation to maintain those bulls, this is not really called self-sufficient. Maharaja said, Self Sufficient of Goshala only can be achieve if the bull are being engaged working in the field, so we can produce grain for the temple’s and devotee’s kitchen, by that devotees in the temple can cook that grain instead of buying milk to cook a lot of panir, or cheese, because to get a kilo of panir we may need many liters of Milk, and the remain actually is wasted.
By having farm, and the bulls from Goshala are engaged there, grains and vegetables can be produced, so the temple doesn’t need to buy food outside or to use a lot of milk from the goshala or to buy from outside factory farming, many of our temple still using a lot of milk product for cooking they have to buy even himsa milk from factory farming. Maharaja also said about nice point regarding Ahimsa Food, some people very fanatic with himsa milk or being vegan by not consuming milk, and what to say about the food that produce by tractor, they are neglecting the bulls, not engaging the bull so the bull had to be sent to the slaughter house because for them they are useless, no used to keep them for too long, better to sell them to make money, this is rascal. So instead to promote himsa milk, we also need to promote himsa food, food which produce without himsa to the bull. Maharaja mentioned “I want also some day to start farm somewhere, because we have to start somewhere, work with the bull, take some pictures and tell it to others. This will be nice”. We were also discussing about the grassing of cows and bulls is the key of self-sufficient and sustainable system of natural farming, when the bull and the cow walk freely in pasturing ground they will spread the cow dung and cow urine which are automatically can balance the bio organic in the soil and produce the top most reach soil humus, which is very fertile. In such condition land can produce any type of food that human being need. As it is being confirmed in Bhagavad Gita “Annad Bhavanti Bhutani”, Mother Earth can provide whatever we need. We distributed some pamphlets of Surabhi Campaign to the devotees especially the brahmcaries. There are some brahmacaries from Myanmar, Malaysia and Mayapur.
From Cambodia we came with three devotees, Vishnuratha Prabhu, Jaghadish Prabhu and Bhakta Khea. Three Maharajas were present there, HH Kavi Chandra Swami Maharaja, HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaja and HH BVV Narashimha Swami Maharaja. HH Kavi Chandra Maharaja told me that the Thailand King has a program of rescuing and protecting bulls, and they have saved a lot bulls and distributed to the farmers but not allow to sell or kill them. On December, the devotees in Thailand will join a program that connected to that. We meet Chaitanya priya Mataji who last time was helping preaching in Cambodia, she gave donation to us 3000 bath equal to $ 83. She is planning to visit Cambodia on October 2016 and will do something to help us finding the informations of the Goshala in Royal Palace of Cambodia she knows some informations of that because she is the ex-wife of the royal family member of Cambodia.
There were about 500 devotees attended the Ratha Yatra. Most of them are Nepalese, Burmese and Indian. Some Thai devotees, Chinese and western. All devotees were chanting and dancing very enthusiastically, even though the heavy rain was there but all the devotees with full of determinations pulled Lord Jaganath’s Chariot. Everyone are so happy with this festival.
