People being to blind because of the very thick ignorance about the science of God, they deny the existence of God. But if we think, how can these gigantic creations, the stars, the moon, and the sun could exist? Just as a picture, must be there is an expert artist who draws that picture, it cannot just exist without anyone makes it, similarly must be there is a powerful person behind the existence of this universe, and that is God.
To know who is the father of a child, he should ask the bona fide authority, which is the mother. So the Vedas is just like our mother, and the only way how to know who is God, we should search through the Vedas. “aham eväsam evägre nänyad: I, the Personality of Godhead, who was existing before the creation, when there was nothing but Myself” (S.B 2.9.33). God is the first being who exists before anything else exist, God is not created by someone else, yet He is the creator of everything. And in this authoritative scripture we find that God or Narayana (Krishna) reveals himself, and we should accept this, since it is being told by our mother, the Vedas, who else that we can trust if we want to know who is God. “Before the creation there was none except Väsudeva. There was neither Brahmä nor Çaìkara. Only Näräyaëa was there and no one else, neither Brahmä nor Éçäna” (S.B 2.9.33 Purport).
God, Lord Krishna as a very kind father for the living entities, he fulfils whatever his children’s desires. Out of our desire want to enjoy separately from the Lord, he created this material universe for us. Now, in this material world we are struggling for our comforts and happiness, we may get some sort of happiness, but the material happiness is limited and temporary, the real happiness is only existing in the spiritual world. The material happiness is simply a reflection of the real happiness in the spiritual world. “tad vidyäd ätmano mäyäà yathäbhäso yathä tamaù: Know it as My illusory energy, that reflection which appears to be in darkness” (S.B 2.9.34). however, this material world is real, but it is the perverted reflection of the spiritual world. “Misconceiving one thing for another thing is called illusion. For example, accepting a rope as a snake is illusion, but the rope is not false. The rope, as it exists in the front of person exposed illusion is not at all false, but the acceptance is illusory. Therefore, the wrong conception of accepting this material manifestation as being divorced from the energy of the Lord is illusion, but it is not false. And this illusory conception is called the reflection of the reality in the darkness of ignorance” (S.B 2.9.34 Purport).
We are expecting for happiness in this material world, but the fact is the material world is a place of suffering. Srila Prabhupada very nicely quoted a verse from Skanda Puräna in his purport to the S.B 2.9.36 “saàsäre ‘smin mahä-ghore janma-måtyu-samäkule : In the material world, which is full of darkness and dangers, combined with birth and death and full of different anxieties” So it is confirmed here that no doubt about this material world is a place of suffering, and actually we are experience it, but due to our stubborn mind we keep thinking that “Ooohh.., such a nice place” when we get a glimpse of happiness, we completely forget about the suffer that we undergo after such material happiness. And now we are becoming entangled in this material world. The only way how to get rid of this suffering is we should get out from this material world. And the solution to this problem is given in the same verse from the Skanda Puräna “püjanaà väsudevasya : loving transcendental devotional service to Lord Väsudeva” (S.B 2.9.36 purport).
Srila Prabhupada says in his purport of S.B 2.9.36 “Men do not know that the ultimate goal of life is Visnu, or the Supreme Personality of Godhead, due to being bewildered by the glaring reflection in the darkness, and as such everyone is entering into the darkest region of material existence, driven by the uncontrolled senses………,, But here is the real goal of life, and everyone should know it by inquiries put before a bona fide spiritual master expert in the science of bhakti-yoga, or from a living personality of Bhägavatam life” So the goal of life is to be freed from material bondage and render service to the supreme Lord under the guidance of a bona fide spiritual master.
When we enlightened with the transcendental knowledge of God, Lord Krishna, which is instructed by the spiritual master according to the Vedas, undoubtedly we will come back to our real home in where there are no miseries. “man-manä bhava mad-bhakto mad-yäjé mäà namaskuru” (B.G 18.65 quoted in the S.B 2.9.36 Purport) So, simply by meditating or thinking of the Lord, become a devotee of the Lord, worshiping him faithfully and offer him obeisance, we will attain him as he said “mäm evaiñyasi”.
Therefore, it is to be understood that only Bhakti can free us from the entanglement of material miseries, no other way.
