We recently just moved to the new Asrham, at Viel Village, Criew Village, Siem Reap. The house quit small but has big yard in front. We will share some though from devotees, regarding this movement. As the following:
“I have an idea to have our own place to develop our Center . The future of ISKCON CAMBODIA is questionable with the previous situation. Why don’t we have our own place and develop gradually for self-satisfaction? The advantage of living in this new house is follow: First we can have our own garden, vegetables and flowers which is the most important for daily offering. Devotees living there will spend only few hours a day or a week at most to produce the garden and plant what we need without pesticide within a month. Then ginger, chili, pepper, potato, eggplant, cinnamon, just to say a few. Fruits like papaya within three months. Start to plant banana. Mango trees are already there. The owner sold many hundred mango every year. She make money. Start to plan the jackfruit. Within 4-5 years we have jackfruit for the Lord. And so on … Self support. Get out of capitalism life style and live the Krishna consciousness way. By that way Devotees can live in Cambodia years and years without ruining anyone. Turn at the back and try to calculate how much we spent to maintain devotees in Cambodia every year and for how many years already ? And if we continue to stay at the same position we will continue to spend more and more. So, keep this money to publish books and other projects of parallel development. According to the information’s from the Interior Ministry, the ASEAN project was to build a highway of 30m large just in front of the said house. In the future, we are not out of town anymore. When we are close to highway, we are close to everything. It is another advantage.
I humbly invite and request each and everyone to see and consider the project as the “Srila Prabhupada Project” not mine, and not any one else but for Srila Prabhupada alone. Where there is Srila Prabhupada there is Krishna, the Supreme Lord. From that point of view the contribution of each and everyone of us, small or big, from near or far is dedicated to fulfill Srila Prabhupada desire. In that spirit we act nicely and humbly to find the way how to develop accordingly the ISKCON Cambodia. ”(Prasannatma Dasa Prabhu)
“We like this property a lot. We had the village chief, vice chief, head of village police, owner’s niece and grandmother, Mr Sophat and a few others here on Jan 24th on Saraswati Puja day to introduce us and our idea for the place. It was a mini festival which I think went over well.
We are not using the bathroom inside at all because we want to keep the inside as pure as possible.
We bathe outside under the hand pump and built an outside toilet with a makeshift canvas wall for privacy. This is a proper squat toilet I bought for $30 and installed it over a septic tank we installed for another $110. I also bought 6 cement pillars $108 ,we placed around the toilet. All of this is temporary. There is no roof.
There is a big house being built several properties over from us….which is indicative of growth in this location.
Just like one devotee Mr Sophat, He likes this place a lot, he has already come here 5 times in the first 2 weeks and brought friends, this is more visits than over the past 12 months.
There are only 3 full time devotees at present. We have sent the students to other home due to their busy with school and don’t have time to the proper service. Because we have to prove desire to serve and surrender before we can let them live in temple.” (HG Kala Dasa Prabhu).
Recently I have some idea to approach a well-known villager to adopt their cow or bull with certain amount of monthly basis plush prasadam, they have to promise that they will not sell or kill the cows, than we will visit them regularly tomake go puja, to collect cow urine, to collect cow dung, to collect milk. Maharaja said that is of course a very good idea. But we need a few more devotees to make this happen, either committed local devotees or additional men from outside. There are good chances that Vishnurata prabhu can come back to Cambodia once his studies are finished in March. Both prabhu Kisora and I have yet to discuss and finalize on this. But yes, showing village people how so very important are the cows would be a great step in the right direction, especially teaching them how to milk cows and all the products from cows.
And somehow in this village near our new ashram, there are a group of people who maintain the Goshala, they protecting 2 cows and 5 bulls, because they are believe in Lord Visnu. And we were show they have big Wisnu statue at their so Asrham also the Lord Narashima, they call Narashingha .
Sometime they grassing the cow near our house, and we can show them from our persadam hall.
We held program of Nityananda Trayodasi, Prabhu Kala he personally cook, in a lot Preparation. We did Abhisheka heald by Somaka Prabhu, all the guest have opportunity to also offer bath to the Lord Gaura Nitay.
